Flu vaccines

Every fall, Novant Health Elizabeth Pediatrics offers influenza, or flu, vaccines to all of our patients. Current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics are that all children up to age 18 receive an annual flu vaccine. Infants cannot receive a flu vaccine until they reach age 6 months.

Our patients with asthma and other respiratory conditions or other chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiac conditions, and sickle cell disease, are considered higher risk and are specifically highly-recommended to receive a flu vaccine.

Each fall we order standard injectable flu vaccine as well as the nasal flu spray vaccine. Children age two and older are eligible to receive the nasal form, if desired.
